A blueprint for climate-smart coffee: Meet Uganda’s climate heroes<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

What if the coffee you drink could help tackle the climate crisis and<\/em> support smallholder farmers to build more resilient livelihoods?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That\u2019s the vision behind the Climate Heroes programme<\/strong>, developed by Solidaridad<\/strong> and Fairfood<\/strong>, with support of the Postcode Loterij<\/strong>, and powered on the ground by our partners at Ndugu<\/a><\/strong>. Together, we\u2019ve piloted a new approach to help companies meet their Scope 3 emissions targets in a transparent, verifiable way. A new case study shares early insights from the pilot, and explores the value for businesses working towards truly sustainable supply chains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Making carbon claims verifiable: The tech behind the transition<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Fairfood\u2019s role in this programme is all about turning bold sustainability claims into verifiable<\/em> action. Our traceability platform Trace<\/a><\/strong> and due diligence tool Navigate<\/a><\/strong> link real-time farmer data to specific coffee batches\u2014substantiating claims like \u201cdeforestation-free\u201d or \u201cliving income\u201d with actual supply chain data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By making carbon credits traceable to actual farming practices, we\u2019re helping to build trust in a fast-growing market, and ensuring that more value flows back to the farmers who make climate-smart practices possible. But it doesn\u2019t stop there: farmers, cooperatives, and local exporters are finally equipped with data, to integrate these insights into sustainable agricultural practices, negotiate better contracts, and gain an active role in the transition. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
